Researchers in the US have shown that even small doses of insecticides can have devastating effects on amphibian populations by acting upon other parts of the food chain. In a study using the most popular insecticide in the US, researchers from the University of Pittsburgh demonstrated that minute amounts of the chemical cause a biological chain of events that deprives tadpoles of their primary food sources.
