Description

During the last decades, the environmental quality of most shallow lakes has deteriorated notoriously in the world landscape, mainly due to anthropogenic eutrophication, inappropriate management of the water level and the arrival of invasive species. On top of these perturbations, climate change is likely exerting new impacts on these vulnerable ecosystems. We hope that the congress "Structure and Function of World Shallow Lakes” will provide a unique opportunity to share knowledge and experiences, with a strong emphasis on research conducted under diverse, either past, present or future climatic scenarios.
