Immature stages

Larvae are most common in lotic habitats but can also be found around the edges of ponds and lakes. They usually burrow into sand or soft silt and may get dissolved oxygen while they are buried by extending the tip of their abdomen above the substrate. Their size ranges between 30-45mm.
