| Author(s) / Editor(s) United Nations Environment Programme | Content Language(s) Spanish; French; English | Type of Document Book | Document Status Final | Document Availability Full Text(Free) | Abstract / Description This series of reports on the state of the world's environment are generally acknowledged as the definitive word as produced by the United Nations official Environment Programme. The series contains reviews and analyses of the environment: current conditions, trends and policies. The publication of GEO-3 is coincides with 10 years since the Earth Summit in Rio in 1992 and the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg. Using a global and regional appraoch, GEO-3 looks at environmental trends over the past 30 years and attempts to provide an explanation. The state of the environment is considered in conjunction with the drivers of change: human, social, economic and environmental. The analyses of the past 30 years is then used to project scenarios for the next 30 years, from 2002 to 2032 and the policies that are needed. Written in plain language, with many pictures, GEO-3 should be accessible for a wide audience. Chapters: - Integrating Environment and Development: 1972–2002
